Here is a short video of our pond that we built about two years ago. The plants have grown so much and we have Koi in it now. I hope you find the sound just as relaxing as we do!
How lovely and peaceful! Was this a hobby project for the both of you? Did you have any assistance or guides to aid you in your design. I suspect there was alot of visible piping and filtering systems that were necessary for such a seemless product. I have watched DIY a couple times on the construction of these beautful backyard santuaries, and yours is truly comparative!
Aww, thanks, Erin. In the beginning, Don kept referring to "the water feature" because he just wanted to buy a fountain of some sort. I kept teasing him and called it a pond because I've always wanted one, but really didn't think we could do such a small one in that area. My teasing turned into a little bit of wishful thinking, then prodding and we talked to several people. When a pond place gave us a book on building them, I found a project that looked similar to our small area and then all of a sudden I could visualize a pond in our tiny space. I designed it basically, he did all the technical talking and purchasing, and then we HAND picked all the rocks! Don isn't a real strong handyman but he is able to do basic projects, isn't afraid to ask questions or READ instructions! And I'm good at being creative and figuring out how to make something work when it really shouldn't! I took pictures of every step, too, so we can build another one if/when we move in a few years!
